US Fundraising Dinner- Midland, Michigan
Many people from outside of Shanghai ask us how they can support Baobei’s work in Shanghai. It’s expensive to ship things overseas. We have lots of blankets, diapers and toys. Larger items are difficult to transport. Purchasing items in China is usually cheaper. That’s why Nancy Royster, former Shanghai resident, was brilliant in coming up with her own fundraising dinner to help raise cash to support Baobei surgeries. There is no better way to help us from outside of China. Nancy’s hard work and dedication to seeing orphans’ lives changed resulted in over $4000- about 28,000 RMB- enough for one GI surgery.
Nancy arranged a formal dinner at a local golf club restaurant near Midland, MI. About 40 people from around the state of Michigan attended. Keynote speakers were Dr. Kaye, Dan and Jessie Gable. They spoke from their hearts about the importance of adoption, and how their family has been transformed since the adoption of their Chinese daughter, Anna. Midland, MI has many adopted children and, after this dinner, there are bound to be more.
When Nancy lived in Shanghai, her heart was moved by the work of Baobei. She frequently went to the hospital to comfort babies before and after surgeries. After relocating to the US, she knew she could still help even if she couldn’t be physically present in Shanghai. We’re so grateful for your efforts and passion, Nancy, and encourage others outside of China to consider hosting an event like hers to raise money for surgeries. We’re here to help equip you with Baobei information if you’re interested, and I’m sure Nancy would share some of her secrets to success as well.
Thanks, Michigan, for your support!
