Zaijian with Love to Philip

Goodbyes are never easy, and that was certainly true for many last week when we had to send Phillip off to his long term care home in Beijing (Philip Hayden Foundation, Shepherd’s Field).  Phillip is 10 years old and has been in and out of SCMC twice for teratoma and scoliosis surgeries.  He was cared for with much love by his summer healing home and left for Beijing with a huge suitcase full of books, new clothing and LEGOS- his favorite toys!    Many came to express their care for Phillip at his Zaijian party last weekend, and his healing home had photos of their summer together mounted all around the clubhouse.  It was a bittersweet good-bye- sweet because we know we are sending him to the best possible care facility in China for his condition and bitter because- well- that’s obvious for anyone who has ever met our dear Phillip.  More photos are coming of Phillip’s new home in Beijing…  Stay tuned.

Baby Julia Arrived

Baby Julia arrived from Henan province yesterday.  She was born August 7 (not even a month old!) with a teratoma (unformed twin) on her bottom.  We are now raising money for her surgery which is estimated to cost 18,000 RMB.  Please click on this link…. if you would like to donate towards Julia’s medical fees.
