Carol Hoag

My husband, two sons and I moved to Shanghai from Michigan (USA) over four years ago. I enjoyed a 17 year career at a Fortune 500 company before we moved. My job experiences there equipped me for managing the operations of the foundation including fundraising, public relations, marketing and communications. I enjoy working among the community in Shanghai to raise awareness about orphans' needs. We have such a responsive and energetic expatriate community here with many business supporters too. I would've never dreamed I would have the privilege to work in this capacity in Shanghai and am so grateful for the opportunity to see many little lives transformed by our foundation. Ann Kedl
Orphan Care Director / Co-Founder
Ann is from the USA but currently lives in Shanghai. Married with two adopted Chinese daughters, she is Baobei's Child Care Director. Ann is responsible for finding wonderful post-operative healing homes for the orphans and for liasing with volunteers on all childcare and aftercare issues. Ann has previously worked for a US-based charity for Chinese orphans and also has a wide personal experience of the orphanage and adoption systems and processes in China. Our Doctors
The very appropriately named Dr. Bao (Bao Nan) is the talented surgeon at Shanghai Children's Medical Center who devotes much of his precious time and effort to performing life-saving and life-improving surgeries on the Baobei orphans. Baobei would not be successful without the passion and support of him and his SCMC colleagues.

Crystal Crawford

My name is Crystal Crawford. My family and I are from the USA. We have been in Shanghai since September 2009. My background is as a pediatric nurse. I enjoy volunteering with Baobei because I feel it is an honor for me to be able to give back to our host country by serving some of those who are in need. One of my favorite quotes is from Ralph Waldo Emerson,"The greatest gift is a portion of thyself." Serving with Baobei allows all of us to give a portion of ourselves to others.

Lynne Liptak
Healing Home Manager
My family and I moved to Shanghai from Chicago in the summer of 2007. My husband, Scott, and I have 4 children ranging from high school down to first grade. We adopted our youngest child from China in 2005. I have a degree in early childhood education from Kent State University, and before having children worked as a special education aide in an elementary school and as the director of a church preschool program. I homeschooled our children for ten years. During those years I held leadership roles in mothers' groups and homeschool co-ops. Now I am excited to be a part of Baobei and grateful for the opportunity to work with families and children in a new capacity.

I am Baobei's Outpatient Nursing Coordinator. My husband and I moved to Shanghai in 2008 and soon after, our 3rd son was born. We have lived in Asia since 2004, but previously lived in the U.S., in a suburb of Detroit. In my spare time, my husband and I head up another non-profit, which we started in 2009.

In the summer of 2007, my family moved to Shanghai from southeastern Pennsylvania. At that time, we were already parents to 2 daughters adopted from China. Since then, we've adopted a son from China as well. Prior to our arrival in Shanghai, I was an elementary school teacher and an elementary school principal for 22 years. Although I've always had a passion for children, my passion has taken on a whole new dimension working with the Baobei Foundation.
